When I think of learning I picture a journey.
It looks more like a pilgrimage than a quest;
more like an adventure than a pursuit;
more like migration than an expedition.
Less of a straight line, more like a spiral.
The shape of the spiral emerges from that familiar
feeling of going in circles…
when we think that we are getting no where.
Turns out
-pun intended,
that every time we feel we are back in the same
place, we have moved.
You have moved, me.
I have moved, you.
We have changed, each other.
It looks like asking the same question,
but it feels like getting a different answer.
It needs to matter.
It requests iteration.
It is the circling motion of collective sense-making.
Walking through the learning spiral is
a humbling experience.
