I joined Reimagine Peacebuilding because I was seeking something different, an honest, collective, and courageous space to rethink how we approach conflict, dialogue, and transformation. This community helps me stay curious, hopeful, and grounded in the realities that are happening around the globe, while feeling encouraged to dream and experiment.

Colombia

I never set out to be a peacebuilder. It wasn’t part of a plan, it was something life gently led me to, through unexpected invitations that felt more like callings. One of the most defining was being asked to support the negotiation of the Peace Agreement with the FARC in Colombia. That experience marked a turning point. It awakened in me a deep commitment to dialogue and a profound belief that peace is possible, even in the most complex contexts.

My professional path had been rooted in regional development and sustainability. After that moment, I began weaving those fields together with dialogue and negotiation, seeking to be an agent of change while doing work grounded in meaning and purpose. Co-founding and leading Diálogos Improbables has been one of the most significant parts of that journey. In territories marked by conflict, inequality, and environmental tension, we’ve brought together unlikely parties—communities, companies, institutions—to build relationships, engage in dialogue, and imagine new ways forward. We’ve developed methodologies that honor listening, mutual care, and the power of recognizing and valuing difference

In these dialogues, I’ve sat in spaces where trust had to be rebuilt from silence and fear. I’ve witnessed moments of profound transformation: when a community regains its voice, when a company hears what it had long avoided, when young people envision futures that include everyone. These experiences have taught me that peacebuilding is not just a profession, it’s a way of being in the world. One that privileges dignity, humanity, and transformation.

I’ve also learned that to hold space for others, I must continue doing the inner work myself: challenging my own biases, staying curious, and remaining compassionate even when disillusioned.

This journey—with all its joys, wounds, and learnings—eventually brought me to Reimagine Peacebuilding: a space to keep learning in community, to unlearn, to dream, and to walk alongside others who still believe peace is worth imagining.

Because peacebuilding, for me, is not just what I do, it’s who I’m still becoming.
