My goal in joining the Reimagine Peacebuilding Community is to actively practice power sharing by learning and growing alongside like-minded practitioners from around the world. I hope to contribute to and benefit from a collective space where diverse experiences, local knowledge, and shared values come together to shape more inclusive and effective approaches to peacebuilding.
My journey to Reimagine has been shaped by over a decade of working in donor organizations, where I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of local leadership in development work. I joined Reimagine because I believe deeply in shifting the paradigm—moving from top-down aid models to ones that center and empower local organizations. These groups know their communities, understand the context, and are already working passionately with limited resources. Supporting them isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s effective, efficient, and innovative.
I want to share the importance of having people within donor agencies who truly understand the local context—how things operate on the ground, what accountability looks like locally, and how to bridge that with donor requirements. My work has focused on power sharing: creating space for local voices, ideas, and leadership to shape and drive the initiatives that affect their communities. I’ve seen how this approach leads to more sustainable and impactful outcomes, and I’m excited to learn from others who are also committed to reimagining development.
At Reimagine, I’ve found a community that shares my values and vision. My journey here has been about connecting with others who are passionate about shifting power, amplifying local innovation, and building systems that truly support grassroots leadership. It’s been energizing to collaborate, reflect, and grow alongside people who are committed to doing development differently—and better.
